The objective of the lab is the development of new electrochemical technologies as well as the improvement and optimization of current technologies. Current research has to do with the understanding, the development, and the design of fuel cells, hydrogen generators, and advance battery systems. Our researchers are working with the objective of continuously develop a new approach in science knowledge with the idea of high quality research. Our researchers combine modeling (molecular, microscopic, and macroscopic levels) with experimental techniques to optimize, design, and understand electrochemical processes. The EERL has the valuable opportunity to gather excellent national and international professionals from United States and overseas and also give the opportunity to accomplish different levels of education. Undergraduate students perform activities that build their engineering knowledge and have the opportunity to interact with graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. The EERL was created by Dr. Gerardine G. Botte (Associate Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department and current director of the lab) in January 2003. The EERL has been very successful in attracting funding and developing novel electrochemical technologies. Please feel invited to visit our web page and learn more about the EERL projects.
